This is the first of workshops focusing on the treatment of specific body areas. The workshop is sponsored by NOTED, Elegant Medical Records, the Newtown Acupuncture Centre and Kinetic Distributions- TCM Supplies.

Heiko Lade and Mike Yin of The Acupuncture Clinic in Hastings will be revising some of the basic orthopaedic tests used in assessment of shoulder injuries as required by ACC and how to document this in the case notes using NOTED- an electronic cloud-based note taking system approved by ACC.

The bulk of this three-hour workshop will go through treatment techniques to assist in the rehabilitation of shoulder injuries including infraspinatus tears and different approaches to treat frozen shoulder.

Mike Yin has worked with Dr Jin Xian Hao of Harbin who specialises in using the Intramuscular Stimulation Method and this will be demonstrated at the workshop.

Heiko Lade now uses traditional Japanese acupuncture techniques which he learnt from Alan Jansson via Ikeda Sensei and these techniques will also be demonstrated to provide contrast to standard TCM needling methods and more modern anatomical based acupuncture techniques.

It is a practical orientated workshop and we will be treating each other and also look forward to sharing the experience of the other practitioners attending.
