Join Us for a Weekend Exploring the Divergent Channels

I’m really looking forward to gathering with you at the end of the month for a deep dive into the Divergent Channels — a system that, once understood properly, changes how you see chronic disease entirely.
A true understanding of the Divergents means you are equipped to treat chronic, degenerative conditions with clarity and confidence. It gives you a framework to understand:

• How chronic disease develops in the first place
• How pathology is stored in the body as a safe mechanism
• How, step by step, we can begin to reverse that process
• How lifestyle and diet support this work in a meaningful way

The Divergents are described in the Ling Shu as the “Major Channels” — marking them as the most important channels to pay attention to. Ironically, the classics say you can
“trade one disease for another” using the Divergents.

What does that mean in practice?

It means we can take a pathogenic factor — potentially life-threatening — and redirect it deeper into the body, containing it safely. Moving it from Wei to Yuan. It may later be resolved. Or it may remain in latency, never needing to surface again within a person’s natural lifespan. This is so powerful.

And yet, Divergents are seldom taught thoroughly in acupuncture schools. This weekend is an opportunity to really understand them — practically, clinically, and in a way that becomes embodied rather than theoretical.

What We’ll Cover

Saturday
• Detailed exploration of the Six Divergent Confluences
• Clinical reasoning and application
• Afternoon: Live demonstrations of patient treatment with the Divergent channels.

Sunday
• Morning: Further live clinical observation
• Afternoon: Supervised peer practice — so you can feel the effects of building mediumship and using the Divergents in your own hands and body

By the end of the weekend, you will not only understand the framework — you’ll have experienced it and be ready to begin using this marvellous skill with your patients on
Monday. This work allows you to treat the vast bulk of the population we now see: humans living with complex, layered, chronic conditions. It is sobering that this is the state of modern health — but it is also extraordinary that we have a system designed precisely for this terrain.

About your Instructor
Ada Sobieszczuk is an acupuncturist with a BSc (Hons) in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Middlesex University, London, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Early
in her training, she was drawn to the Classical texts. A formative moment came when she attended a workshop with Master Jeffrey Yuen, where she encountered complex
Western medical theory expressed through the elegant simplicity of the Classical lens. Although the language was unfamiliar at the time, she recognised its coherence and
depth.

The publication of Ann Cecil-Sterman’s Advanced Acupuncture: A Clinical Manual later provided the language and clinical framework through which Ada could fully understand and apply these teachings. This lineage shaped her approach to medicine as a way of seeing through multiple lenses at once — like light moving through a prism — allowing different perspectives to coexist and inform clinical practice. Integrating the Divergent channels into practice meant being able to build resources - mediumship - complement with her clients and buffering down inflammatory conditions with clarity.

About the Series

This weekend is the third in a four-part training series exploring the Complement Channels – the Sinews, Luo, Divergents and the Extraordinary Vessels.
Together, these channels form the complete system beyond the Primary channels, offering a clear and effective way to understand and treat every person who walks through your door. Taken together, they create a coherent, comprehensive map for clinical work.
